Hi,

Could you please tell me if the structure and punctuation in this sentence is correct?

"Understanding the desire in students to achieve communicative competence, it is therefore, logical to focus on those strategies, which may have a potential benefit in the development of this area of foreign language learning."

Thank you very much

WHO is understanding the desire and therefore should focus on those strategies?

Remove the comma after therefore and the comma after strategies.

What does "this area of foreign language learning" refer to?

The entire sentence seems redundant and overly wordy.
