    Default -ing

    Here's a sentence I read on a blog:

"Having already extended Manu Ginobili, the Spurs could do nothing better this offseason than securing the services of Splitter, as the current Mavs-Spurs series gives clear indication."

Is "securing" really correct? Shouldn't it be "to secure"?

    Thanks.

Yes. I would prefer "to secure".
