    questions about "paired conjunctions"

    Hi, everybody!
I have 4 (four) questions about "paired conjunctions:
    Question 1:
    1. He is interested in not only tennis but also football.
    2. He is interested not only in tennis but also in football.
Are both of them correct? I think so.However, which one is more formal?Question 2:
    1. You can come either on Monday or on Friday.
    2. You can come on either Monday or Friday.
I personally think "2" is incorrect. Am I right?
    Question 3:
I don't want to talk to __ her __ her sister.
    A. both ... and B. either ... or C. not only ... but also D. neither ... nor
I opt "A". Am I right? Who can help me how to explain why "B" is not true. I am sure that "C" or "D" is not a wise true.
    Question 4:
    Which one is correct?
    1. Sometimes it is not only wise to listen to your parents but also interesting.
    2. Sometimes it is not only wise to listen to your parents but also interesting to listen to them.
    3. Sometimes it is not only wise but also interesting to listen to your parents.
I think "1" is the best choice. But how about "3. It is not only wise but also.." I think this sentence is OK.
    Question 5:
How about this one "He not only likes but also understand French films" Is this sentence correct?

Who can get me out. I have been so confused.

    2. He is interested not only in tennis but also in football. They are both sort of OK, but I dont't like them. "He is not only interested in tennis, but also in football", would be better.

I think "1" is the best choice. But how about "3. It is not only wise but also.." I think this sentence is OK. #3 is the best one, IMO.
    Question 5:
How about this one "He not only likes, but also understands French films" Is this sentence correct? It's correct with the small additions I have made.

    Hi, Mr. bhaisahab,

Many thanks for your clear explanation. I got it. However, I want to ask you one more question.
Is "He not only likes French films but also understand them.(1)
    the same as:
He not only likes but also understands French films.(2)
    and
He not only likes French films but also understands them.(3)

    (2) sounds the best choice. Isn't it?
    THANKS AGAIN.

They all mean the same thing and I think they are all OK.

    Re: questions about "paired conjunctions"

2 is probably the neatest but they're all fine.
