What does it mean when people say in my mark?

I remember that i've heard it in some military situation in a movie.

It's "on my mark" and it means "When I say to do it" or "Wait for my signal to do something."
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
