    a or an?

    When using correct English grammar, what goes before words beginning with the letter H - Do u say "a" hypothetical situation or "an" hypothetical situation?

    I'd say 'a'. Use 'an' where the 'h' is silent (heir, hour, honour). The origins of the silent 'h' are from French loan words, other than the ones above, you do hear 'an historical', often with an aspirated h.
