    if you only knew

    If you only knew what I'm going through.
    I don't quite understanding the meaning, does it mean "if only you knew"?
    Pls give me some instructions.

    Yes.
    "If only you knew" is better because it follows the usual "If only ..." construct.
    If you're writing a song, you might use:
    If you only knew / what I'm going through ... " for the rhyme.

    Re: if you only knew

    You probably noticed, yuhan, that the rhyme would be the same in:
    'If only you knew / what I'm going through'. But look at (listen to) the rhythm - 'what I'm going through' goes dah dee dah dee dah.

    Sorry, I meant this rhyme too.
    If you
    only knew
    What I'm going through.

    I guess that rhyme depends on the rhythm, as you say.

    It's used in quite a few songs:
    Shinedown
    If You Only Knew

    If you only knew
    I'm hanging by a thread
    The web I spin for you
    If you only knew
    =================
    Savannah Outen
    If You Only Knew

    If you only knew
    That I think about you
    In a kinda secret way
    =======================
    IF YOU ONLY KNEW Lyrics - MAROON 5

    If you only knew
    What I went through just to get to you
    I'm hanging from you
    And I'll hold on if you want me to
    ===============
    Tatyana Ali : If You Only Knew

    If you only knew
    All the things I feel for you
    Boy I want you in my life
    I can't deny
    ============
    Gil - If You Only Knew

    If you only knew that I'm crazy for you
    Then you'd understand
    If I only knew what you're going through
    Then I'd understand
    ==========================

    And probably the original:
    Can't Smile Without You Lyrics
    Artist(Band):Barry Manilow
    You know I can't smile without you
    I can't smile without you
    I can't laugh and I can't sing
    I'm finding it hard to do anything
    You see I feel sad when you're sad
    I feel glad when you're glad
    If you only knew what I'm going through
    I just can't smile without you
