What would an example of a sentence with a verb group that contains a modal and is marked with past and perfect tense... very stuck... examples of each would be helpful xx

Do you mean a single verb group with a modal and a past perfect tense, or a sentence with a modal and a past tense and a perfect tense?

Good, because (I think) the first one is impossible.

Are you sure you can't come up with an example? I think you can; give it a try.

I have been sat here since 9 this morning doing a lot of work and have been able to come up with most things i need... this is something that I just can't think of! :( give me some clues haha

I'm not sure if you saw my post before you posted back. Is 'could' the modal, does 'have' make it perfect tense and 'was' make it past tense?

does 'have' make it perfect tense "have invited" is present perfect tense.

and 'was' make it past tense? "was" is simple past tense.
