    Cool such

    Hello there,

    Which is correct:
    - "such music is awful" or "such a music is awful"
-"such equipment is very expensive" or "such an equipment is very expensive"
-"such machinery is very bad" or "such a machinery is very bad".

    Thanks a lot

    W

As Corum said, no indefinite article is required. In this context, music, equipment and machinery are used like collective nouns.

If it helps, change "such" to "This type/kind/sort of..." and you may see that simply using the noun on its own makes sense.

In order to use the indefinite article, you would have to say:

Such a piece of music is awful.
Such a piece of equipment/kit is very expensive.
Such a piece/bit of machinery is very bad.
