    snaps

A stylist and a young lady, they both like the dress the young lady is trying so much. The stylist then said:
"Let's give snaps to the dress, all the way around"

What does that mean? I know what it means to snap your finger, but what that has anything to do with liking the dress? Is it like "Hi Five"?

    Thanks a lot.

    Re: snaps

It's a very casual way to say that something is good or a good idea.

If you are in a meeting and come up with the solution to a problem, the others there could say "Snaps to maiabulela."

However, I've never heard this from anyone who was not female and under 30, unless it was said jokingly.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

    Re: snaps

It may refer to a recurring skit on the old TV show In Living Color. "Men on Film" would rate various things, from movies to fashion to music, using snaps (literally snapping their fingers). If something was really awesome, it would rate a "Zorro snap" - snapping the fingers in the shape of the letter "Z."
