Default What does the cold stands for?

    Hello,
I need a help with common word "cold" in the following sentence:
This time of year is perfect for those who are willing to brave the cold, as the sandy beach is abandoned and there is aplenty for some privacy.
What does it stands for here? Cold weather, cold water, running nose? Thanks for suggestions.
