Question Answering a question with a question

Is the below question and answer incorrect because a question has been answered with a question - if not then how else is it incorrect?
“Is John ill? He’s lost a lot of weight.”
“Yes, he is rather slender these days, isn’t he?”

It's correct. It can sound sarcastic.

Re: Answering a question with a question

O.K. so I don't get it - have been thinking about it for days. Is there any other way that the original question and / or answer is incorrect?

Dandelion used to have many stars but someone has stole them all. Dandelion will be glad to see you give him/her a star.
