    Hi,
Why not take a look at this thread, and let us know if you have any questions: http://www.usingenglish.com/forum/as...ent-pupil.html
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

That would not be true in the US.

    ***** NOT A TEACHER *****

    Hello, Hitinvo.

    (1) You have received wonderful answers from many people. I, too, have

learned a lot from their posts.

    (2) Please remember that there are small differences, as you so

    correctly said.

    (3) For example, all of us are "students of human nature." That is,

we all observe the way human beings act. No one would ever use

"pupil" in that sense. If you did, people would laugh.

    (3) Another example:

I am a "senior citizen" (that's a nice American term for an old person).

I do not attend college classes. But I love to read about journalism and

newspapers. So I consider myself "a student of journalism." That is,

I have an interest in that subject. But if I actually enrolled in a college

course, then I could call myself "a journalism student."

    (4) Yes, it's all very confusing. But with time, you will understand.

***** Thank you for your question *****

If you're a student of English, you didn't even alter the first part of your post to take note of my corrections.

In my country we use these words like I said above. If it's wrong tell me the difference.
    Thank you.

(Leave a space after the punctuation mark, not before it.)

    You're welcome.
