    to guide and instruct them

A Chinese monk asked two American visitors :"Could you do us a great favor for our future visitors to guide and instruct them? Would you write something in English?"My question is what is the function of "to guide and instruct them"?Thanks for your teaching!

"To guide and instruct them" modifies do. It acts adverbially. It answers the question "why".
