v.i.means intranstive verb as we uesed in dictionaries. "It" refers to the original sentence.In short, can we say:" [FONT=&#23435]After the fire, the door kept standing."?Thank you very much![/FONT]

That doesn't sound very natural.

I would suggest something like "...the door was still standing."
