    Difference between For and To

    Hey,
    I was wondering what's the difference beetwen " For + Infinitive + ing " and " To + infinitive ".

    What sentence have you got in mind?

    This is a great place for swimming.
    This is a great place to swim.

    The first and the second sentence mean the same thing by answering the question : "what is it for?" In other words they define the purpose of that "great place".

    We use those structures (in or for+ing) when talking about things in general terms.
