    easy question?

i was wondering, with such words as "province" and "provincial", why do the "pro-" sound different in each case?

    Pr 'AH"

    and

    Ph 'OH"

    thx!

    Re: easy question?

With 'province', the first syllable is stressed, but the second is stressed in 'provincial'.
