Default [Proofread please] It seems like all I post here is letter of complaint...

    Dear Sam,

I first called your company to have my washer fixed on June 1. You and another handyman came, examined the washer, and told me we need a new agitator and a stud. Total came to $184, and you demanded a deposit you needed to buy the parts. So I gave the amount of $85 in cash, as stated in your receipt. As you were leaving you told me youíll be back with the parts tomorrow or the day after. You gave me your word. Itís a verbal agreement, which holds legal responsibility.

Iím writing this letter on June 4, because you did not keep your words. I even called you on 3rd, and specifically told you on the phone that Iíd take my deposit back should you fail to come and get the job done that day. You told me youíll be coming with the parts in the evening. You didnít.

I called you because my family needed the washer quickly. You set this deadline yourself, and you failed to deliver. You should either keep your deadline, or shouldnít set a deadline you canít keep in the first place. As you failed to keep your words, which serves as a verbal agreement, I hereby demand the deposit of $85 back. Iíll just buy a new washer at Sears for $300. Maybe thatís what I shouldíve done in the first place.

    Regards,

    HKB

you told me youíll be - you would be

Itís a verbal agreement, which holds legal responsibility. legal force (but given the existence of a receipt and the passing of money, there's actually a contract, isn't there?)

did not keep your words. - word

As you failed to keep your words, which serves as a verbal agreement, I hereby demand the deposit of $85 back.- failed to do your side of the agreement, I hereby demand the deposit of $85 back

Also, should you call him Sam, I'd use Mr X

Thanks always Tdol for your prompt answer.

So if you knew the person you're writing to by his / her first name but not by lastname you'd use Dear Mr.X? Or is it for the sake of anonymity when posting here?

When complaining, I'd use a more formal form than the first name.
