Dear all,

What is the meaning of "line" in this context:

"I have to go over lines for Dash. Like, literally I have, like, a hundred of lines to go through.'

"Dash" is the name of the store.

Thanks a lot.

Dear all,

"Dash" is the name of the store.

I assume, in this context, it refers to "lines of clothing/food" etc, depending on what kind of product is sold at Dash. A "line" of products is a specific group or range of products.

line - definition of line by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia. - see definition 17.

Thanks. Then, what does she mean by "go over lines for dash"?

Also I see 100 is too much. I don't know

"Dash is a langerie store"

Waiting for your answer.

Thanks a lot.

I imagine the writer is a buyer or maybe the manager of a branch of Dash. The lingerie shop is perhaps starting a new season, so it will be looking at selling new ranges of lingerie. Someone has to be responsible for checking the new lines of underwear and I guess it's this person's responsibility. She has a hundred lines to go through, which is a lot!

One thing - the original text shows "a hundred of lines..." There should be no "of" in that sentence. It should just say "a hundred lines".

Yes yes. You mean, she will go through hundreds of lines (like checking them) to choose some perfect lines (not all 100) for the shop?
If it's so. it makes more sense then.
Thank a lot

Well, without context, it's hard to tell if she's checking 100 lines that someone else has already chosen, or if she has to go through 100 lines and decide which ones to stock in the shop. It's one or the other, I would say!
