    interesting poem decoding

    Do you carrot all for me?/ My heart beets for you/With your turnip nose/And your radish face/ You're a peach!/ If we cantaloupe/ lettuce marry/ We'd make a swell pear

    I think this is an interesting poem but I can only decode part of its .. how to say, neat little treatments? Such as,

    lettuce marry = let us marry
    pear = pair
    beet = beat

    Beyond that, though, I find it difficult to resolve those supposedly funny things. Would you please help me out? Thanks
