Hello,
This is my very first post in the forum. I've to give the English examination on 30th of August. This topic I'm creating about prepositions so as to ask others to for correction of my wrong solutions.

I'm not a native English neither people here are very expert in grammar. So I had to search over internet and Google brought me here. I hope I'll find this forum as helpful as I saw others in this forum.

Here, I've solved some of the exercise, Please let me know If I'm correct.

(viii) Many of us eat (with) fork and spoon.
(ix) The referee ordered two players (to) the field. - Meaning of the sentence is not clear.

I would leave this one out if I were you. There is no single preposition to fit your space.

The word upriver means 'towards the source' (downriver means 'towards the sea').

All correct in #6.

They are both correct.

'by a camera' is wrong.

I understand, but others will also read this thread. And there is more to learning English than just taking exams. :)

Yes.. I agree with you :)

Anyways, Another question appeared like this:

Combine each pair of sentences. Use a preposition if necessary:
(i) We’ve advised Maria. She should get a lawyer.
(ii) I’m getting bored. I’ve been sitting on the beach.
(iii) The food was too cold. Farah couldn’t eat it.
(iv) How about it? Shall we go to the Bar-B-Q?

My Solutions:
(i) We’ve advised Maria (to) get a lawyer.
(ii) I’m getting bored sitting on the beach.
(iii) The food was too cold (to) eat it.
(iv) How about going to the Bar-B-Q?

I'm really confused in this one.. :?:

Oh. I got it. Thanks :)

Further solutions:

- The main export (of) Iran is oil. Many people died (of) starvation.

This is in Paragraph form:

Fill in the blanks with correct preposition:
Karachi Secondary Board reached (at) the final (of) Pakistan Inter board
Cricket Tournament after defeating Lahore Board (in) the semi-final (by)
four wickets (at) Asghar Ali Shah Stadium, Karachi.

at or in, in the last?

'...reached the final...' is correct. No preposition is needed.

The rest are correct. (At for the last one.)
