    Default opulent heyday of expansion/opulent bouquet/opulent suburbs

    Dear teachers,

    Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of adjective “opulent” in the expressions in bold in the following sentences?

    The University dated from the opulent heyday of expansion and was now slightly grubby and tatty, mortared cracks grinning between the white oblongs under their urban plaque.

    opulent = profuse

    On the grassy mound lay the ghost of a large, indeed opulent bouquet, held together by bridal wires, now rusted amongst the mop heads of dead chrysanthemums and carnations, the skeletal leaves of long-faded roses.

    Belinda didn't know exactly where they were going, and in her five hard-working years in Brisbane had never been through these opulent suburbs before, but in a way it was nicer to surrender herself to a mystery drive.

    opulent = magnificent

    Thanks for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V.

    In the first, I think it also has a sense of the extravagance caused by the boom that profuse lacks.
