    What does "table spreads" mean

    Supermarket food purchases study In order to assess changes in patterns of food purchases across the Project period, a supermarket food purchases study was conducted. Sales of milk and table spreads at supermarkets in the two communities were monitored during the course of the Project.

    Butter and margarine and other 'butter substitutes.
    There are other 'spreads', like jam, peanut butter, etc. but they might mean just dairy spreads.

    As it says milk, it could also include cheese spreads.
