    off one's head

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?

His eyes were so shifty and bright we thought he was clean off his head.

off one’s head = crazy, out of one's mind

    Thanks for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V

Yes, "off one's head" on its own means crazy.

I found "doped off one's head", meaning "completely wasted on drugs".

In BrE, to be "off one's face" means to be extremely drunk, though I have also heard it used when referring to being extremely stoned (drugs).
