    Default receded/receding

"My father's hair, streaked with gray and receding on both sides, is combed straight back to his collar."

Can I use "receded" instead of "receding" in the above sentence?

    Thank you

    Default Re: receded/receding

If it has receded he has no hair at all. The original sentence is fine - his hair is in the process of receeding.
