    Default dirt cheap

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?

“This is extremely good port”, he said diplomatically. “an dirt cheap.”

as cheap as dirt = dirt cheap = very cheap

    Thanks for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V

"Dirt cheap" is commonly used, but we rarely say, "As cheap as dirt."

"As cheap as chips", is more common in the UK.
