    Default nineteen to dozen

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?

She put it on the palm of Catalina’s hand. It made her heard beat nineteen to dozen. (Maugham’s “Catalina”, chapter XXIX)

nineteen to the dozen = without a break

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V.

It usually means very fast/at a rate of knots!

People are usually said to talk nineteen to the dozen, if they are those really talkative people that you just can't shut up!!
