Default Is 'sand can carry air pollutants' OK?

    'Desertification could worsen air pollution,
because the sand can carry air pollutants on winds.'

Is there any problem with the above sentence?

Is 'sand carry 'can carry air pollutants OK?

    Also 'on winds' is correct?

'on winds' =by the wind=by winds

    'Desertification could worsen air pollution,
because the sand can carry air pollutants (for thousands of miles) by the wind.

You could also change it to something like that:

Desertification could worsen air pollution because the winds would be spreading the sand carrying the pollutants.

    Thank you Marylin.

What about 'The sand can carry air pollutants with winds.'?

Or what about 'The sand and winds can carry air pollutants.'?

    Thank you.

When I was reconstructing your sentence, I made a mistake. It should be:

Desertification could worsen air pollution, because the sand can carry air pollutants with the wind.

Therefore, your senyence #1 is OK, except I would change with winds into with the wind.
    sent.#2 OK
