    Which is better, (1) or (2) ?

    (1) However, two months later, her pet Lucky got lost.

    (2) However, her pet Lucky got lost two months later.

    Both are fine.
    I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
