    on good authority

    Dear teachers,

Would you tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?
…that unless Nasser then … we have it on good authority.. that unless Congress voted credits by July 1, they would probably miss the bus this year on any credits they wanted. (J. Aldridge, “The Last Exile”)

on good authority = from a reliable source

    Thanks for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V.
