Default Re: The meaning of some terms

1)An open book - for everyone to see and examine, no secrets there."My life is an open book" - I am not hiding anything, everyone can have a look and examine my life.
    2)In the open - it's public knowledge.
3)Open and shut case- case/problem whose solution is obvious.
4)Open ended- with no planned finish until some sort of agreement is reached:
"Blair conitnues with his open ended discussions with the British Muslim community". The discussions will end when they find a solution to the terrorist problem.

5)Open letter -addressed to a particular person but published for the public eye ( ex. a letter to the editor)
    6)Go one better.[/B] - outdo[/B]
