Some people would use a period, others not.

    3. My best ____ truck stalled in our driveway yesterday.
    a. friend's
    b. friends'

It depends whether you have more than one best friend (- Yes, it is possible to have two best friends!)

    5. Cross the ts in this document.
    a. Cross'
    b. t's
    c. this'
    d. Doc'ument

I suppose they want #c, but I would prefer to italicise the 't' and omit the apostrophe.

    6. The books are our; the notebooks are Thomas
    a. book's
    b. notebook's
    c. our's
    d. Thomas'

The anwers are ours, with no apostrophe, and Thomas's

Now that is an example of a terrible exercise.
