    Question What does value mean in these two sentences?

    values which are point properties;
    values which depend on orientation relative to a set of reference axes.

    What's the context? Have you tried dictionary.com?

    Re: What does value mean in these two sentences?

    Given the scarce context, I'm guessing the meaning of the word 'values' in those sentences is simply 'numbers' or 'figures' expressing some parameters, physical properties, etc., of which some are specific to a given point, and some depend on the orientation in space, i.e. relative to a system of reference axes, such as the three-dimensional X-Y-Z system of co-ordinates.

    The sentences could have been taken from a paper on crystallography. Some parameters of crystals are just point values, and some depend on the location relative to the crystal lattice (spatial grid).

    Not to make things too complicated, just a couple of examples:

    The value of the boiling point for the liquid 'X' is 230 F.
    The values of the measured optical density vary between 0.1 and 2.5.

    Hope this helps a bit.

    Regards,
    Tee Kay
