    checking grammar

    "We were sitting at a reastaurant, chatting away. I just lost track of time.(I) Guess it would have been like three hours before we left and headed up to my place."

    It sounds natural, but realize there is no subject in the last sentence and the "like" is very typical of speech, but not writing.
    I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
