    scale of the pyramids

The pyramids at Giza are among the best examples of Egyptian architecture, not only in scale but also in the precision of their construction.

I'm a bit confused. Is the word scale here refering to the great size of the pyramids or the large quantity of them?

    Any reply'd be appreciated

. . . , not only in size (relative dimensions).
