Default Is another full stop needed outside the quote mark?

The sentence is 'He is clever.'. (The full stop is inside the closed inverted comma and there is another one outside.)

Is the sentence correct? Is another full stop needed outside the closed inverted comma?

    Thanks in advance.

I would use only the one outside the quotation marks. It certainly doesn't need two.
