Dear teachers,
Would you tell me whether I am right about my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?
I happen to think Manchester is probably right in the long run, but in the short run – meaning the campaign – he’ll get murdered on that issue.
in the long run = eventually, in the end, finally, at the end
in the short run = in the near feature, in the immediate future, in short period of time
in the long run: Information from Answers.com
Thanks for your efforts.
Regards,
V
