Hi,

I am confused about the use of 'out front' in conversations.

Are the following sentences correct"

1. The truck pulled up at out front.
2. I will wait for you out front.
3. The out front of the house was in bad shape.

Thanks,

MG.

Hi,

I am confused about the use of 'out front' in conversations. At least in most cases, "out front" means outside of and in front of something, usually a building.

Are the following sentences correct?
1. The truck pulled up [STRIKE]at[/STRIKE] out front. :tick:
2. I will wait for you out front. :tick:
3. The [STRIKE]out[/STRIKE] front of the house was in bad shape. :tick:
4. 'The outside of the front of the house was in bad shape.' :tick:
Thanks,

MG.

Thanks 2006.

One related question. If want to tell somebody to meet me at the bottom of a building (not on the ground floor of the building, just outside) what should I say?

4. I will meet you at the foot of the builiding?

5. I will meet you at the bottom of the building?

6. I will meet you just outside the building.

Thanks.

6 is best.
4 is not wrong, but I don't think many people say that, at least in North America.
5 is not good; it's odd and it's not clear exactly where you will meet. (as you know)

I find it interesting, and not a little surprising, that you give your native country as Congo and your language as Afrikaans.
