    Default idiom

    In Finland we have an idiom, which describes that you embark on something unprepared and consequently fail.

    What english idiom(s) would match that?

    We have 'look before you leap', which is the closest I can think of off-hand.

    The trouble is that it is given as advice when someone is about to do something unplanned, but it's pretty close.
