I would like to ask about the meaning of the following sentences:

1. Let’s just say the finances did not quite stretch to the sitting room.
2. Busy being waited on hand and foot by your mum I heard.

I guess you know this one isn't a sentence. Otherwise it's fine.

1 I assume that it means they didn't have enough money to d something to the living-room when having other work done on the house. Maybe they decorated some other rooms.

2 The person's mother does everything for them.
