    Default be under orders

    Dear teachers,

Would you tell me your opinion concerning the interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentences?

I haven't long to spend with the family, we are under orders to sail for the island next week.

He is under orders to start for India next week.

be under orders = to have been told that you must do something by someone in authority; be waiting for

    Thanks for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V
