    blowing the lid off...

    Hi,
I'm reading a novel and I've come across this sentence "...the last thing he needed was some paranoid sys-sec BLOWING THE LID OFF digital fortress"
I wonder if that could mean uncovering everything they were trying to hide; is it the same as to say "spill the beans"?
    Thanks,
    Magoo

Right, that's what it means. To blow the lid off is to suddenly uncover the truth of a matter that's been kept secret by private persons or government agencies.
