Reading, writing and speaking are the best ways to learn. Continously getting our kids to do these things help. But therein lies the challenge.

Children need change from the monotomy. I use food and cooking as a tool. The kitchen can become an excellant classroom for practical usage of the language. Reading, writing and speaking are the best ways to learn.

That's a little bit like saying "learning is the best way to learn". The challenge of teaching successfully is in finding specific ways to teach our students and help them learn. "Cooking", by itself, has little to do with learning English. However, "how to cook" within a TPR (Total Physical Response) lesson can be very helpful. I think we need to focus on specific teaching techniques such as TPR or dictations (among many others) that have been successful in actual ESL / EFL classrooms.
