Should I report if I see more "already pinged" -links or just let them be without reporting if those links are spam?

    Re: What already pinged means?

    Hiya, and thanks for asking.

Links to drug stores and other such sites like the ones you found are obvious spam so it would be great if you could click the Report post icon to let us know about it. I would suggest you don't click on or visit any links to sites that look like spam sites.

If they look like links to respectable sites then they are useful and should be left alone.

OK , I just cannot push the "report post" icon at this kind of cases because that message came when I was writing of my answer to that thread. You know this white answer box when we are writing of our answers before we push the "submit reply" -button.

    Re: What already pinged means?

    OK.

    What was happening was this:

The forum had been set to use Pingbacks so that it could inform other sites when links to them were posted in our forum. The 'Already Pinged' message that is displayed in the thread just tells our members what links have been pinged in the thread. Unfortunately, because a spammer had previously posted a message with some links contained in it, these links were also pinged and therefore were displayed in the 'Already Pinged' (even though the spammy post had already been deleted).

I've switched off the Pingback mechanism now so this should stop happening in the future, although you may still see old threads displaying these messages.

    Hope that all makes sense.
