    Only B is correct.

    Re: spread of?

I think this thread is getting very confusing. There are two sentences that need articles.

    Sentence number 1:

According to_________World Health Organization, health care plans are needed in all big cities to prevent_________spread of AIDS.

    Possible answers:
    A.the; / B. the; the
    C.a; a D. /; the

    The correct answer:
    B

    Sentence number 2:
Of all ____ reasons for my decision to become a university professor, my father’s advice was _____ most important one.

    Possible answers:
    A the; a B. /; a C/; the D the; the

    The correct answer:
    D

    Conclusion:
Separate questions should be asked in separate threads.

    Re: spread of?

I have split the thread into to, taking the questions related to the second question with that question, and I have deleted the posts arising from the confusion of having two questions in the same thread.

Both questions have been adequately answered, I believe.

In the future, please do not start asking about a new test question in the midst of an thread about a different question.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
