Dear friends...

Could you comment on the correctness of the following sentence?

I stayed surprised.

Many thanks

It is grammatically correct and logically possible, but it might not mean what you think it does. What is the context?

There's no context actually.

but...how about this one?

I stayed surprised. They were all talking about the accident.

I am not sure whether 'I stayed' means 'I faked' or 'It got me good, really, it was a big surprise'.

Thank you for commenting!

Neither. It means you were surprised and did not stop being surprised.
You can use:
“I pretended to be surprised” (faked)
“I was really surprised” (very surprised)

It's a possible sentence, but it sounds unnatural to me with just the context you've given.

I stayed surprised. It was actually too much for me to digest in a few hours.

Is it fine?
