    Please check out the following sentences. Which is acceptable or better?

    (1) One evening, Peter was invited to attend a wedding banquet.
    (2) One evening, Peter was invited to a wedding banquet.
    (3) One evening, Peter attended a wedding banquet.

    They're different; being invited somewhere doesn't mean that you go.
