Western democracy doesn't work like that. Is there some reason (apart from personal embarrassment) why this thread should join los desparecidos?

It was there in my mind. But with my new keyboard, I keep hitting <caps lock> when I type that letter, so I'm developing a tendency to suppress it.

    Sr. Administrator,

I am fully aware that should not have used my website name which is also my brand and post it in an internet forum, Please keep in mind that I never wrote down the full website.com address, that is because my question was mainly related to grammar accuracy and not advertising the website by illegal means. I have talked to experts in search engine optimization about this matter, they expressed that posting website names in internet forums could be considered as non-ethical methods to draw easy traffic. This outcome was never my intention. I have been suggested that since the thread is already closed, in order to get rid of the result back from Google’s cache, your assistance in taking this page off the forum’s server will be necessary, once the thread disappears search engines will remove the result too.

Once you start a new thread and the members start to answer, that thread is not just yours anymore. It is not only unfair to the participant members whose answers, thus their effort and time will be wasted but also the other members who have made/will make a good use of that tread will be deprived of the useful information in those answers.

So if you want your thread to be deleted, you should have let the administrators know before the answers came in.

But all in all, this is just an opinion of mine but depending on my experience on these forums, the admins will think along the same lines and therefore be reluctant to satisfy your demand.

For what it's worth, I think the reason given by the threadstarter is a legitimate one. I also don't see how deleting the thread would make the time and effort invested by the respondents a waste. I like to believe that the teachers who frequent this forum do so because they have a genuine interest in helping others improve their English, not because they want to attain a certain status. And most people who have a question regarding the use of apostrophes will simply start a new thread.

    Sr. Administrator,

    ...
That quote doesn 't say 'let us know and we'll do it'. I know you want it deleted...

But I am not an Administrator. I'll refer this to Tdol - who is.

I have deleted it. Generally I don't like deleting threads as they may contain things that are useful to other people, but I do think there is a sound reason here- I have deleted threads before that contained identifiable information.
