Default Flying italics - not urgent.

Occasionally when I try put a word or two in italics or bold, the word(s) fly up to join the last expressions I have put in italics or bold. Once this happens, nothing will cure it in that post. Am I inadvertently pressing some key that causes this?

Very odd I think Red5 will probably want to know how you are applying the format - I know of eight ways (I think): <highlight> + <ctrl>/i, <highlight> + <click on the I button>, and do one or the other before typing (and remember to move the cursor before going on with text you don't want highlighted); and the same four with I]<ctrl>[/I]/b or the B button. It sounds like an unpredictable bug, and changing methods might exercise a bug-free code path. (It might not though. )

But it sounds very annoying - you have my sympathy! (My desktop PC is called INFERNO, from which you can probably guess my attitude to computers.)

Thanks, Bob. In trying to explain what I do, I can't sound as knowledgeable as you.

I do one of two things.

    1. If I have already written something, I put the cursor at the beginning of the word, left-click and run the cursor over the word, unclick, move the cursor to the B for Bold and left-click.

    2. I simply left-click on B, type my word and left-click again on B.

The words fly around no matter which method I use.

I should add that the flying doesn't happen very often.

Sorry. I'm lost. It seems very odd behaviour. It sounds like something that's happening at your end, which you could probably fix by flushing the cache* - but that doesn't explain why it's happening.

*The way you do this depends on which browser you're using. The Tools menu and Internet Options are probably involved. If you use either Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox don't hesitate to ask for better instructions.

    Thanks, Bob.

I really am pretty hopeless with computers. The last time I tried to clean up a few minor problems, I ended up having to buy a new computer. 'Flushing the cache' sounds drastic to me.

I think I'll stick with my occasional flying italics. It's a little annoying when it happens, but that's not very often, and only on individual posts. When I leave the message, it (the problem) disappears. I'll learn to live with it.

    Thanks again.
