In one of the threads there is a sentence
My friend is in Japan for 6 months.
I'm quite surprised as I've never heard we can use Present Simple in this way. If I understand the meaning rightly, my friend went to Japan 6 months ago, and she is still there. So there's been 6 months since she went to Japan. So why do we use Simple instead of the Present Perfect? Is there any point here that I seem to miss?
Thank you in advance.
so '6 months' has a future meaning... Thank you! It's crystal clear now.
