    cut down a street

    Hey,

    >>If hadn't done that, I would have walked right by the newsstand, cut down 77th street, and got there a minute early.<<

Does this mean he took a shortcut to avoid 77th street or 77th street was the shortcut?

    Thank you,
    Steven
